VMOD in-car computer and media management server allows you to store and play content from your home computer in your vehicle without discs or other devices. You will find VMOD in-car computer and media management server as a source in your vehicle for all things media. The VMOD in-car computer and media management server is photos, movies, music, games, satellite radio, web browser and navigation all rolled into one small compact unit that integrates easily into any existing rear seat entertainment system or into any factory stereo with an AUX input. VMOD in-car computer and media management server is designed to incorporate your home life into your mobile life and using Windows XP means interaction with your vehicle is simple and very user friendly. Moving files to your vehicle is as easy as clicking and dragging files around on your desktop. Now simply drop them into your new VMOD in-car computer and media management server folder on your desktop and they will be waiting for you when you get in your vehicle.
Where do you mount VMOD in-car computer and media management server?
The VMOD in-car computer and media management server is designed for installation in the passenger or enclosed cargo compartment of an automobile. It can be installed underneath the seat or in the trunk. Please consider the availability of 12 volt power supply and the location of your monitor. Also, performance of the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth radios may be affected by the positioning and may require additional antennas and/or antenna extension cables. The VMOD in-car computer and media management server may not be installed on the exterior of the vehicle, in the engine compartment, or in locations where humidity may condense such as near the ventilation ductwork for the air conditioning system. The VMOD in-car computer and media management server is not weatherproof and should not be installed in any way which would expose it to the elements.
How do I put my media on VMOD in-car computer and media management server?
You can load your media from your computer into your VMOD in-car computer and media management server using the included VMOD in-car computer and media management server Media Server program which installs on your home computer. Another option for loading media is using a USB flash drive and plugging it directly into one of five 2.0 USB ports located on the back of the VMOD in-car computer and media management server. VMOD in-car computer and media management server will recognize the flash drive and you can run, load or change all media.
Will my Slingbox work with the VMOD in-car computer and media management server?
YES! Slingbox and the VMOD in-car computer and media management server work great together. The VMOD in-car computer and media management server must have a continuous feed to the internet for the package to operate and we recommend the AT&T 3G card for constant internet connection.
Can I use a wireless keyboard with the VMOD in-car computer and media management server?
You may use an external keyboard on the USB, PS/2 and Bluetooth ports. Installation of a Bluetooth keyboard must be done from Microsoft Windows XP directly and is not supported within the VMOD in-car computer and media management server User Interface. A PS/2 Keyboard must be attached when the unit is powered up or it will not be recognized until the next power cycle.
Do I need to point the remote at the VMOD in-car computer and media management server to control it?
No. The remote control uses Bluetooth wireless technology that does not require line-of-sight for communications.
Does it take a professional to install the VMOD in-car computer and media management server in my vehicle?
VMOD in-car computer and media management server requires attachment to vehicle power (12V, switched and constant), composite video, and audio connections. Optionally, USB devices may be attached. Mounting the VMOD in-car computer and media management server and routing the wiring will require some in-vehicle installation experience, however the device can be installed by an individual knowledgeable in vehicle wiring.
Can I load songs from the iTunes Music Store into the VMOD in-car computer and media management server?
The VMOD in-car computer and media management server can play unencrypted iTunes plus songs from the iTunes music store in the M4A format. The encrypted M4P files from iTunes Music Store (non-“plus” music) will not play. Changing to the Windows XP does allow you to load and play all iTunes music and media.
Will the VMOD in-car computer and media management server work in any vehicle?
VMOD in-car computer and media management server can attach to any vehicle with a 12V power and inputs to a monitor for both composite video and audio (Yellow-Red-White round inputs). If you are attaching to a factory-installed rear-seat entertainment system, you may require an adapter to get these inputs. You can attach to the External Aux input of a Vizualogic A-1150, A-1250, or A-1290 AV Module.
How do I connect my mobile broadband device to the VMOD in-car computer and media management server?
Several mobile broadband adapters are supported. To connect to these devices to your VMOD in-car computer and media management server, you will need a mobile broadband device that attaches to a USB port and all required Windows XP drivers for that device. You will need to copy the device drivers to a USB thumb drive or attach a USB DVD-ROM drive in order to retrieve the drivers, unless they are on a USB thumb drive already. It is also possible to download drivers via the Internet over Wi-Fi from the VMOD in-car computer and media management server if they are supplied by the manufacturer. You will need to follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer of the device and/or the mobile broadband service provider. If your mobile broadband service offers an Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection on the device, only minimal configuration is necessary to the VMOD in-car computer and media management server; simply attach an Ethernet cable or connect to the Wi-Fi network under “Settings”. Due to the wide range of offerings from multiple providers, we are unable to include these drivers with the VMOD in-car computer and media management server product. Beyond this information, Vizualogic technical support is unable to assist with any issue related to attachment to a device not provided by Vizualogic, and questions must be directed to your mobile broadband provider.
Can I connect to the Internet with my mobile telephone?
VMOD in-car computer and media management server can be configured to connect to a mobile phone broadband network via a “Dial-Up Networking” profile. This will require a compatible telephone, any necessary drivers and/or utilities for the mobile phone (if applicable) and instructions from your ISP. Vizualogic technical support is unable to assist with configuration of an external device.
How do I use Microsoft Windows to install a driver or application?
You may exit to Microsoft Windows XP simply by pressing the Windows XP button on the wireless Bluetooth remote control. This will terminate the VMOD in-car computer and media management server user interface and allow you to install additional software. Please note that your VMOD in-car computer and media management server warranty does not cover damage caused by additional software or misuse of the Windows XP interface and that the system does not include antivirus or other malware protection. If installing other applications to your VMOD in-car computer and media management server, antivirus and other protective software is strongly advised. When the VMOD in-car computer and media management server is not in its user interface, the remote control will continue to function; however the arrow buttons will control the mouse pointer. The enter button will act as the left mouse button. There is no equivalent to the right mouse button on the VMOD in-car computer and media management server Remote.
How do I return to the VMOD in-car computer and media management server user interface from Microsoft Windows XP?
Simply push the “Home” key on the VMOD in-car computer and media management server Remote. The user interface will restart.
How can I reset my VMOD in-car computer and media management server?
VMOD in-car computer and media management server offers three reset options. To reset the user interface, hold down the Enter and Home buttons on the remote for five seconds. The UI will exit, and upon releasing the Home button it will restart. To reset Windows, hold down the Navigation, Satellite Radio, and Up arrow for five seconds. If the VMOD in-car computer and media management server remote does not function (perhaps due to a dead battery) you can power down the VMOD in-car computer and media management server from the power switch. Holding down the power switch for 5 seconds will forcibly power down the VMOD in-car computer and media management server.

VMOD in-car computer and media management server software updates are generally supplied in .SDU update format which may be loaded onto a thumbdrive (not in a folder on a thumbdrive) and inserted into an available VMOD in-car computer and media management server USB port. It may be necessary for a VMOD in-car computer and media management server update to be supplied in an alternative format. Instructions for these updates will be provided with them, if applicable. A restart of the unit may be necessary as well to complete the installation.
Where is my VMOD in-car computer and media management server serial number?
The VMOD in-car computer and media management server Serial Number is located on the packaging, and is affixed to the bottom of the unit on a green sticker, below the barcode. Scanning the barcode will also give the serial number.

To restore the screen, attach a keyboard to the unit if you have not already done so, and press Control-Alt-F2 (All keys held simultaneously). You may use either a PS/2 (round) connector, or a USB (rectangle) connector to complete this task, or a Bluetooth keyboard that was paired before the VMOD in-car computer and media management server screen went blank.
